Moldex as a manufacturer of protective equipment, also see it as their responsibility to protect the environment.

Since Moldex develop and manufacture products and production technologies thereselves, they can directly influence processes and materials at any time. Moldex use this advantage to implement ecologically sensible improvements in the company and in products.

REUSABLE PRODUCTS

“Choose to reuse!” initiative, Moldex are actively promoting the use of reusable occupational safety products. One example of this is the innovative Air Plus FFP masks with a washable TPE full face seal and AirWave® Long-life pleated filter, which may be reused in accordance with the EN 149 occupational safety standard.

PVC-FREE

Since 2008, all Moldex products and packaging have been 100% free of PVC and the plasticisers required in this context.

PVC is a durable, inexpensive plastic and is ideal for products with a very long service life, but in our opinion not for occupational safety products.

NO HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCES

All Moldex products are free of harmful or hazardous substances that are subject to registration under the EU REACH Directive. For example, we have eliminated the toxic salt chromium VI from all gas filters. Some manufacturers still use this substance to separate certain gases.

RE-GRANULATION

Many of the scrap and residual plastic materials produced during the production process are granulated by us in a special procedure and fed back into the production process. For example, Moldex’s bestseller, the classic FFP2 mask, consists of up to 40% re-granulated plastic.

SHORT TRANSPORT ROUTES

Since Moldex produce almost exclusively in Europe, product components are not transported around the globe. Their logistics centre for finished products near Stuttgart is centrally located in Europe. This also keeps transport routes to distribution to a minimum.

ENERGY CONSUMPTION

Moldex are constantly working on optimising our energy consumption, e.g. by completely converting our lighting to LED technology. At their main site in Walddorfhäslach, moldex obtain electricity from 100% hydropower from the Alpine region with 0% CO2.

BUILDING TECHNOLOGY

Moldex Modernise their buildings in accordance with the currently valid energy recommendations, and new buildings are constructed accordingly. The photovoltaic system on our logistics centre, for example, saves about 59 tonnes of CO2 per year.

SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING

Ninety percent of Moldex’s packaging is made of paper or cardboard and has a recycled content of at least 80%. Since their products are worn on the face, they cannot completely do without plastic packaging for hygienic reasons, but then they only use materials that can be recycled without any problems.
